Via Seiffen to the Fichtelberg mountain and Oberwiesenthal, in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains to the Bastei rock formation, to the Wine Route on the Elbe and to Dresden. A fantastic hiking area around the Talblick also attracts hikers to the Ore Mountains. A highlight of the region is the 8,000 blockline. A total of fourteen mountains over 800 m high, in other words more than 8,000 decimetres, are connected by a splendidly constructed mountain bike route. They have a good sense of humour in the region and are proud of their eight-thousanders. If you’re really fit, you can do all fourteen mountains in one day! The food and drink on offer comes from the region, naturally.

The Berghotel Talblick is a Flair Hotel in a particularly beautiful location. Situated on the ridge of the Ore Mountains, 770m above sea level in the pretty village of Rechenberg-Bienenmühle, the location offers its visitors many unique moments. The fresh mountain air and memorable view of the valley offer a superb setting for relaxed days and ultimate recovery in one of Saxony’s most beautiful locations. In summer it’s worth discovering the area by bike, whilst the nearby Holzhau ski resort attracts visitors in the winter. The house is directly connected to the famous mountain bike trail, the “8000er Blockline”. A highlight is a visit to the neighbouring Blockhausen museum. They do amazing chainsaw carvings here – watch how a block of wood becomes a mythical creature, it’s a real experience for young and old. The incomparable art works are exhibited all over the region along hiking paths and mountain bike trails.

You can experience the history of the Ore Mountains as a flourishing mining region in over 20 visitors’ mines. The Ore Mountains are world-famous for their wide variety of traditional crafts with fabrics such as embroidery, felting, weaving, lace-making and ornamental trimmings, crafts using wood such as the typical wood shaving trees or toy manufacture using wood turning techniques, as well as glass blowing and the creation of aromatic candles and hand-made paper. All these are cultivated as ancient handicrafts and kept alive in a unique way. In winter, the Ore Mountains are a wonderful region for winter sports and in summer, ambitious hikers can embark on exciting expeditions to the 14 eight thousand meter high mountains near Altenberg to add their names to the summit register of the bivouak camp. The region has over 14 mountains that are higher than 800 m, in other words 8,000 decimetres. They have established themselves in the Ore Mountains are eight-thousanders and the residents are very proud of their unique features.
