A thousand years ago, red hot magma and groundwater collided, creating powerful eruptions. The resulting craters subsequently filled with water and today are better known as the maars (lakes) of the Volcanic Eifel or the “Eyes of the Eifel”. The Dauner Maars are a unique geological natural product and offer superb walks.
The Moselle and Rhein meet at the famous “German Corner” in Koblenz, whilst Koblenz’s old town invites you to take a stroll through it.
